On the 12th September 1832, Hans Christian is born in Flemhude (in today’s municipality Quarnbek) near Kiel. His parents live in Gaarden at that time, but are on a journey to Bovenau where Ernst Christian’s brother Friedrich Maximilian lives. Hence, Hans Christian is also baptised in Flemhude. We do not know much about his life. He already dies the 17th August 1855, without being married, in the small town Bredstedt, living as a carpenter in the local workhouse for the poor. But the birth register of that same year in Bredstedt reveals, that he has a son who is born in the same year when Hans Christian dies. The mother is Margaretha Hedwig Detlefsen. They give the son the name of his Hans’ father:
